New Choral Music – A LOT of it! And you’re gonna LOVE it.
Dec. 6-7 – Christmas! – Like we did a few years back with “I’ll Be Home for Christmas”, we’re doing a BIG musical this coming Christmas. The musical is called, “For Unto Ya’ll: A Cowboy Christmas”. Performance dates: Dec. 6 & 7.

WOW!! The preacher for the Men’s Retreat I helped lead was a man named Jimmy Draper.  Perhaps you’ve heard of him. He was the pastor of FBC, Euless, for many years. He was President of the Southern Baptist Convention, President of the SBC Sunday School Board, and President of Lifeway. Now retired, he still preaches about 40 times a year. He was INCREDIBLE. Such a humble man – and a wonderful expositor of the Scriptures. GREAT NEWS: Truman has called Jimmy and has him tentatively scheduled to preach here next March.

Gail White is Admin. Asst. to the Pastor. Her son, Jeremy, is returning from a Mission Trip to India. Jeremy’s friend, Ryan Roberts, posted a report on his Facebook page. Below is an excerpt. The “don’t get too fanatical” mentality of North American Christianity can prevent us from understanding that, just because outbreaks of the Holy Spirit are rare in North America – in those areas of the world where people are broken, persecuted and hungry – all heaven is breaking loose. I asked Gail if I could share an excerpt.  Here it is:

Over 1,000 people showed up to a packed [worship service here in] India even though it was an annual Hindu festival HOLIDAY. And we saw many MIRACLES take place right in FRONT OF OUR OWN EYES including many former Hindus PRAYING to receive CHRIST, people giving personal HEALING testimonies….and even EVIL SPIRITS being casted out in the name of JESUS right in front of us!

I know many of us, including myself, are probably not all that familiar with demon possession, but in the Bible, Jesus tells us to cast out demons, and Jesus even did it many times Himself in Scripture, but I had NEVER seen anything for myself on the level that I saw it at church yesterday, and it’s probably due to the fact that so many people in India worship false IDOLS and practice many demonic rituals. Literally, people would come up to me (seemingly fine) and say that they were being attacked by evil spirits, and then I would simply LOOK at them, call out the DEMON, touch their head or hold their hands, and start PRAYING to JESUS. Every time I did this, the people would start violently SHAKING and SCREAMING and then COLLAPSE to the ground, sometimes even trying to PUNCH me, but as I would continue praying over them and telling the demons to LEAVE in the name of JESUS, they would eventually STOP fighting me, peacefully close their eyes, remain in a restful SLEEPING state for a while, and then eventually sit up and start WORSHIPING JESUS!

As [Jeremy and I] were discussing the various intense demon stories though, I was reminded of this powerful verse found in Luke 10:17-20: “When the disciples returned, they joyfully reported to Jesus, “Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!” “Yes,” he told them, “I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning! Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among demons and crush them. Nothing will injure you. But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven.”

Spot-on blog by respected, long-time pastor, Chuck Swindoll. It never ceases to amazes me how church members forget (or have never read) that “wicked, man-centered religious leadership” is found throughout Scripture. Bottom line: just because a man holds a Sr. Pastor position (or, any pastoral position), it doesn’t automatically mean he’s walking with God. About the wicked religious leadership of the first century, Jesus said, “You shall know a tree by its fruit.”

From Swindoll’s blog: “It’s easy for the pastor to become authoritarian. What does that look like? If the minister needlessly represses the freedom of God’s people, if he becomes inflexible and dictatorial, tyrannical and oppressive, if he bullies people with threats, if he lacks a servant’s heart, if he himself is not teachable, if his arrogance has replaced humility, then he has become an authoritarian. He needs reproof . . . even if he is the pastor… [This is] not the same as leadership….Put bluntly, it is sin.” (Remainder of blog below)

“Sometimes God will end a relationship for your protection. So stop chasing after the person He’s trying to save you from.” Trent Shelton

“The Calvinism of some…is not the Calvinism of John Calvin, nor the Calvinism of the Puritans, much less the Christianity of God.” Charles Spurgeon

“I always wanted to be somebody, but now I realize I should have been more specific.” Lily Tomlin
