UNBELIEVABLE MUSICAL TALENT: “COMPETITIVE FOURESOME” (Enjoy!)
A PRAYER FOR THOSE WHO STRUGGLE WITH DEPRESSION (Apparently, the biblical writers struggled too. The following text is taken solely from Scripture.)
“Darkness is my closest friend…My tears have been my food day and night…Evils beyond number have surrounded me…I cannot see…[But] You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.”
[So I ask myself] “Why are you in despair, O my soul?….[Put your] Hope in God.”
“I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. He has given me a new song to sing,…”
Christ wins.
NOTE: This does not dismiss the need, at times, for medical attention and/or professional counseling. (God uses, and works through, these types of helps.) These holy words from antiquity simply remind us that, by whatever means, Christ is greater. He is enough. He loves you with an everlasting love. Because of the Cross and the Empty Tomb….Never. Lose. Hope.
Nick (Scripture used: Psalm 88:18; 42:3; 40:12; 56:8; 42:11; 40:1-3)
QUOTE(s) of the WEEK
“Grace is shockingly personal. As Henri Nouwen points out, ‘God rejoices. Not because the problems of the world have been solved, not because all human pain and suffering have come to an end, nor because thousands of people have been converted and are now praising him for his goodness. No, God rejoices because one of his children who was lost has been found.” Philip Yancey (my all-time favorite author), What’s So Amazing About Grace?
“A primary reason the historical study of Jesus is controversial is that a lot of information presented as truth is simply not true. There is a vast difference between scholarly, historical method and what someone heard from a non-Christian professor or read on the internet.” Nick Watts, Jesus of Nazareth According to History
