THIS SUNDAY, 8/2
Choir: Thou, O Lord
Preacher: Jason Atchley
THE NEXT “BIG THING”: ADAM’S ROAD
These three young men will share *briefly* in our two morning worship services as well as sing a song just prior to Jason’s message. Please make plans to return Sunday evening at 5pm for their full presentation (which lasts an hour & 15 minutes). Given the Mormon presence in Lubbock, your attendance & support will be a wonderful investment of your time in understanding the difference between Mormon beliefs and Biblical Christianity. Immediately below the flier is the brief 2 1/2 minute promo video we showed this past Sunday.
FALL REHEARSAL INFO
We are, right now, in the process of deciding, as a Staff, on the Wed. evening schedule for the upcoming Fall. As soon as there is a decision, I will let you know what date mid-week rehearsals will resume, as well as what time they will begin. 🙂
ATHEIST VIEW vs. CHRISTIAN VIEW (This is brilliant)
NOTE: The resolution on the graphic is a little low so it may be a little difficult to read.
A TRUE MUSICIAN’S CLOCK
SUMMER GROOVIN’…. ENJOY!
I am a student of great piano playing. You will LOVE this. It’s a mash-up between Michael Jackson’s “Bad” & “Smooth Criminal.” I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a pianist’s fingers move more quickly. There were moments the pianist’s fingers were almost a bur. Enjoy!
TWO HUGE LIES…
IT’S BEEN A *SUPER* SUMMER!!!
Old Youth Pastors never die. Dr. Richard Ross, Professor of Student Ministry at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary once told me, “Nick, youth ministry is in your DNA.” I can’t help it. 🙂
All that to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU for allowing me to continue to be a part of Super Summer each summer on the campus of Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX. Close to 1000 students from all over the state converge on that campus for what I like to call “intense discipleship & intense fun.” Here are a few pics from my time there in mid-June. (1) Me & Macy, (2) Me & Conner Johnson. (Both Macy & Conner, BHBC members, have attended all six years.) And, (3) The “group pic” is of the 100 students I was over that week.
QUOTE(s) of the WEEK
“If you are thinking of being a Christian, I warn you – you are embarking on something that is going to take the whole of you…” – C.S. Lewis
“It is on [planet earth] that a great duty falls upon us all, to be the bearers of God’s forgiveness, to be the instrument of His love, to be active in compassion…God moves in His own mysterious ways, but a great deal of the time He moves through us. And it is because we are not [paying attention to Him] that so many do not believe in God’s love…No one is too weak, too vile, too unimportant, to be God’s instrument.” – Alan Paton (1903-1988)
LAUGHTER IS GOOD MEDICINE:
