Choir: NO CHOIR THIS SUNDAY & NO REHEARSAL THIS WEEK (see below)
NICK OUT THIS WEEKEND
In March of 1983, I was called to be the Youth Pastor at Potosi (Puh-TOH-see) Baptist Church – a little country church outside of Abilene, TX. It was the very first church I ever served at. I was 19 years old. The folks of Potosi Baptist Church have invited me to teach all sessions of their D-Now weekend for their students this weekend, and then preach on Sunday morning. Please pray for me as I will teach/preach four times. Kenneth Wood will be ably filling in for me on Sunday morning. Enjoy the weekend off. 🙂

RELIGION vs. RELATIONSHIP
[Religion is nothing more than] “myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds.” FFRF (Freedom From Religion Foundation)
Frankly, I couldn’t agree more with the FFRF.
Aren’t you glad that Christianity isn’t based on religion (man’s pursuit of God), but on Christ (God’s pursuit of man)?
We are saved not by rules, but by relationship – a relationship made possible by the cross and the empty tomb. Nick

QUOTE(s) of the WEEK
“In one of His last acts before death, Jesus forgave a thief dangling on a cross, knowing full well the thief had converted out of plain fear. That thief would never study the Bible, never attend synagogue or church, and never make amends to all those he had wronged. He simply said, ‘Jesus, remember me.’ And Jesus promised, ‘Today, you will be with me in paradise.’ It was another shocking reminder that grace does not depend on what we have done for God but rather what God has done for us.” Philip Yancey, “What’s So Amazing About Grace?”
