I’m Quoted in this Blog!
One of the blogs I follow on Twitter is called “The Poached Egg,” (the name is taken from C.S. Lewis’ famous “trilemma” in his classic, “Mere Christianity.”) It’s a solid Christian apologetics (defense of the Christian faith) site that boasts over 15 thousand followers.
Recently, I noticed the title to a tweet I found of interest: “44 Quotes from Former Atheists.” The tweet linked me to a blog by James Bishop, who I’ve read before.
As I was perusing through the quotes of the likes of famous former atheists like CS Lewis, Alister McGrath, Francis Collins, and Lee Strobel, I arrived at author # 21 and, to my surprise – it was ME!
At some point the writer had stumbled upon an article I wrote for the Lubbock Metro Reader Magazine a few months after my son, Jordan, took his life. The article is entitled, “Atheism Failed Me.” (To read the article simply click on the article title, or you can click here.) Finding Jordan that day pushed me to the very edge of my faith, and beyond. After seeing my quote in James Bishop’s blog, I thought to myself, “Soli Deo Gloria! Christ continues to use the worst day of my life to bring hope and truth to those who may well be experiencing theirs!” You can read the blog, “44 Quotes from Former Atheists”, by clicking here.

4 REASONS WE CAN TRUST THE BIBLE IS RELIABLE
This blog is not exhaustive, but is concise and helpful in our ability to have intelligent dialogue where our faith is concerned – specifically in regard to the reliability of the Bible. The author, Dr. Andy Bannister, is Director of the Solas Centre for Public Christianity and an Adjunct Speaker for Ravi Zacharias International Ministries, speaking and teaching regularly throughout the UK, Europe, Canada, the USA, and the wider world. THE CASE FOR CHRIST MOVIE: PREMIERS APRIL 7th
There are two books that spurred my interest in Christian apologetics: Josh McDowell’s “More Than a Carpenter“, and Lee Strobel’s The Case for Christ. Strobel’s story is coming to the big screen on April 7th. From what I’ve read, the film has been well made with Strobel, himself, being involved in the entire process. For those perhaps unaware, Strobel, a graduate of Yale and a former investigative reporter for the Chicago Tribune, was an ardent atheist. His journey to faith in Christ is intriguing and compelling. Read one interview with Strobel regarding the movie by clicking here. Read another solid news story on the movie here.
QUOTE(s) of the WEEK
“Much of the history of Christianity has been devoted to domesticating Jesus, to reducing that elusive, enigmatic, paradoxical person to dimensions we can comprehend, understand, and convert to our own purposes. So far it hasn’t worked.” Andrew Greeley
“Whatever keeps me from my Bible is my enemy, however harmless it may appear.” A.W. Tozer
