HOW DO I LEAD SOMEONE TO FAITH IN CHRIST?
The Encounter Crusade will be heavily evangelistic in nature, meaning Ronnie’s overriding message each service will be to encourage listeners to place their faith in Christ. Leading another person to faith in Christ should be a very normal part of the Christian life. However, many believers have never led another person to faith in Christ. (Most often, because they’re afraid due to not knowing how.) That said, here is a simple way to do so:
Paul, author of most of the New Testament wrote, “…faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” (Romans 10:17) So, although our own testimony/story may help another person become open to the gospel, it’s the Word of God that will ultimately convict them to place their faith in Christ. So to Scripture we go. What follows is a simple explanation of the gospel using passages from the New Testament book of Romans. I will include very concise explanations following each verse. Should you have questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
- Romans 3:23 – “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” This is a “bad news” verse. We are born separated from God because of what the Bible calls sin.
- Romans 6:23 – “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” This is a “bad news/good news” verse. Here, Paul clearly spells out what we deserve for our sin against God (death, eternally in what the Bible calls hell). But, because of his unfathomable love for us, God has “solved our dilemma of being separated from him” by giving us his Son. It is significant here that Paul uses the word “gift”. A gift cannot be earned; rather, it’s simply received.
- Romans 5:8 – “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” This is all “good news.” God proved his love for us by offering his own Son as an atoning sacrifice. “God so loved that he gave…” (Jn 3:16)
- Romans 10:9 – “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Although it’s the most significant decision one will ever make, the process itself is very simple. As with other “religions”, the gospel requires nothing in way of human effort to inherit eternal life. It’s simply a matter of belief.
IN THEATERS THIS WEEK, APRIL 7th!
I ran across this interview with Lee Strobel in the Chicago Tribune. This interview is significant because Strobel was an investigative reporter at the Chicago Tribune when he began his investigation into the case for Christ. You can read the interview here. Once again, here is the trailer for the movie.
THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA & CHRISTIANITY
FOX News ran an interesting article (albeit not in the least surprising) about the absolute ignorance of Christianity in the mainstream media. Of interest is a CNN Religion Quiz. FOX reports,
In a quiz claiming to test one’s knowledge of Christianity, there is sum total of one question about Jesus Christ (where did He walk on water?). Nothing is asked about Jesus’ birth, words, death or resurrection. There are no questions about the Christian understanding of truth, sin, or salvation. Nothing about Paul or Peter. Nothing about the afterlife. Nothing about the human condition.
No real news here. But interesting none the less. Satan is a brilliant strategist. It’s no wonder there is so much confusion in North America as to what it means to be a “Christian.” You can read the article here.

QUOTE(s) of the WEEK:
In a conversation with my family about how difficult it is to “wait on God”, my daughter, Macy, texted us and told us that my son, Jordan, used to always tell her the following. His quote is definitely worth quoting here:
“It’s easy to praise God when good things happen. It’s sometimes even easy to praise God when something bad happens. But the hardest time to praise God is when nothing is happening.” Jordan Watts
