Wed. evening, Oct. 25th, we will have our regularly scheduled Church Family Business Meeting.

However, in addition to “business as usual”, presentations will be made by our Personnel Team, Church Council & Deacons.

You need to be there.  If you’re not there – and you find out later what was said – you’ll regret you missed it.  Trust me.

This Sunday, Oct. 29th, is our first semi-annual Special Offering for our Building Program.

Twice a year, once in the Fall and again in the Spring, we will allow people, who feel led, to give over and beyond their tithe to the building of our additional 16,000 sq. ft. of Biblical education space.

There will not be two different “passings of the plate” on the 29th.  But rather, a one-time “as usual” offering letting the people know that, if they desire, they can give an additional offering to go toward the Special Offering.

This is an outstanding – and simple – way to “be Jesus” to others.

We had purchased 96 shoe-sized plastic boxes and made them available in our Commons this past Sunday.  Every single one was taken after the first worship service.

We have purchased another 96 boxes and will make those available this coming Sunday, Oct. 29th.

Pick one up, fill it up, and return it by the due date of Sunday, Nov 5th!

The local Body of Christ known as Bacon Heights Baptist Church began assembling together in 1967.

On November 12th, we will, both, commemorate and celebrate what Christ has done, and continues to do.

We will have one worship service that morning at 10:30.  No SUMMIT Groups.

Due to expected overflow crowds, satellite areas will be set up within the church.

Following the worship service, a “Come & Go” reception will take place in the Family Life Center from Noon-3pm.

Just last week I was visiting with a parent-of-a-teen about this very topic. That parent then passed along this 15 minute interview with author/speaker, Simon Sinek. (Interview was published one year ago.)

In my experience with working with teens & their parents for 30+ years, I agree with every single word Sinek says in this interview. More specifically, there’s not a single point he makes that, in response, I would counter, “Come on, Simon, you’re over-reaching here.” He’s spot-on.

Please, when you have a minute (15 to be exact) watch this. At the 9:30 mark he begins connecting his data to the recent rise in teen suicide rates, accidental drug-overdoses and depression.  (I posted this on my Facebook page and encouraged every parent, counselor, teacher and youth pastor to watch it.)

Due to our important business meeting Wed. evening in the Worship Center I won’t be teaching this week.

However, after last week’s study on the paranormal I was asked a number of questions about what our loved ones are doing right now in heaven. So, the following Wed night (11/1) we’ll learn together what God reveals to us in the Bible about our loved ones in heaven. Can they see us? What are they doing? How old are they now that they’re in heaven? Will they recognize us when we arrive? Etc.

Unless the Holy Spirit convicts otherwise, plans are to being our systematic study of Revelation on Nov. 8th.

KITCHEN UPDATE:  I am told that the kitchen should be completed next week.  The reason for the delay comes down not to Lee Lewis but to the delay in materials arriving.  Be patient – the end result will be worth it. 🙂

What was formerly the concrete lower courtyard.  Photos taken from the south side of the courtyard – where the flower beds used to be – looking toward the Children’s Ministry area.

FLC Restrooms almost done!

A little Halloween humor…

Q: Where do mummies go for a swim?

A:  The Dead Sea

Q: What would you call the ghost of a door-to-door salesman?

A: A dead ringer
